The Self

The illusion of self.

The idea of the Self is the core of all the problems in the world.

How so?

There are no problems on the planet earth. The earth will continue to spin, and all the organic life will live as it will live. It has no cosmetic or artificial opinions.

It just is.

The only problem on the planet is the problem that the human mind has developed in its head.

The manufacturer of the problem is the mind, which we also call the Self.

If the Self is manufactured, then as with all manufactured things it requires perpetual maintenance.

A company needs a lot of maintenance, and it has a lot of problems.

And there are only people-problems.

The ocean does not need maintenance, but a pool does.

The forest does not need maintenance, but the backyard does.

What is the Self?

It is what you have manufactured it to be.

It is the product of what it has been exposed to through sensations and perceptions.

All the opinions you have about politics, the game, food, war, religion, Instagram, parenting, co-workers, traffic, media, behavior and so on.

The opinions about what you ware, how the hair is done, how you look, what you believe, your job, your place in the hierarchy in the society, how much goods you have accumulated, how others see you, likes, dislikes.

All this is what a human call its personality.

This very personality is what you are trying to maintain and protect.

The personality that you use to overcome the very hindrance that comes before you, is also the core of all the problems that you have, and this is what is producing the misery.

The Self is in a constant chase of maintaining its reputation and therefore it is extremely sensitive to opinions that do not agree with it.

It is constantly chasing pleasure, and therefore at the same time making a feeling of unhappiness (because pleasure and unhappiness go together), and then it seeks safety, certainty, and security.

To get out of the unhappiness, it again produces a desire for pleasure, and then unhappiness, and again seeks safety.

The self is so destructive for humans. It has constructed a slave.

Normally, humans call this self-destructive, but this is not true. If it would be true, then the self, as an illusion, would fade, and the human would be free. There would not be a Self to protect, maintain, please, chase, seek to satisfy, and so on.

It would be equilibrium and free to act.

Let me tell you a secret no one has ever told you before:

The Self is not self-destructive; it is actually Self-developing even furthering into the rabbit hole of the mind.

Secret number two:

If you are provoked by this text, it is your personality and Self that thinks so.

Your-Self.
