The Mind III
The human mind is a recorder, a bank, a storage unit, a processor, a filter, a creator, and a garbage bin for whatever it is exposed to. Anything it comes in touch with, it collects.
If it does not understand what it is exposed to, it becomes confused and conflict arises.
The mind and the brain will pick up everything it comes in contact with through sensation, and then it will perceptive this as thoughts, and then feelings, and feelings make the reactions, making another thought and so on. Most of what it has gathered is unconscious. One is unaware of it.
What is important to understand, is that the mind does not have the ability to subtract. It cannot erase what it has been exposed to.
As the mind produces thoughts, human divides the thought into negative and positive thoughts, and they only want to keep the positive thoughts and get rid of the negative thoughts.
When a human has been tricked into the idea of thinking positive, and by force and practice, only producing positivity in the mind, it has become a full-time job. It is suppressed as effort and through endeavor, the human thinks that he can make the negative thoughts vanish.
The human does not realize, that even if one could, through effort only think positive, the second the effort stops, the negative thoughts come back with an even stronger force.
Why is this so?
Because the mind pays extra attention to what it fears and gives even more energy to what it has now become emphasized. As the human tries to get rid of the negative thoughts, the human has put extra attention to those negative thoughts by trying to override them with positive thoughts, feeding the negative thoughts with even more importance. Because now, fear of having those thoughts comes back.
Understand that if you try to suppress negative thoughts, or cover them up, or forget them while being occupied, or meditate away from them, trying to block them, it will come back ten times stronger when it is done.
You have probably in your life met another human that you do not like. The mind has picked up that you have negative thoughts about this particular human, and as you try to think positive, and to not think negative, the thought about this other human burns inside your head forever, because you have not seen the very truth about the whole situation, you only try to run from it.
So let me enlighten you, on why you would have negative thoughts about another that you do not like.
Let me start by telling you, that it has nothing to do with the other human. All conflict is self-conflict. If you hate, you drink poison and only you die, not the other.
So, the very reason why you hate the other, feeling the force of negativity, thinking in misery and pain is because the other, as a circumstantial happening outside of you, makes the mind fear of not knowing how you would feel and react. The very reason why you dislike, is because of the fear of uncertainty of how you would think, feel and react. It is the fear of unpredictability. It is the fear of unsafety. It is all self-conflict. And as long as the human does not understand that the very self is the one you are trying to protect, you will forever feel the full force of all of the circumstances happening in the unfavorable direction of your wishes. You will feel that they are happening TO YOU, not just happening.
So the human, unaware, must forever work and fight. One must forever do maintenance. One must always meditate. If not, the consequence is brutal.
Let us together investigate the mind and the thoughts for a minute, to understand how the mind adds everything it comes in contact with, and let’s explore together the effort of trying to subtract what it has been exposed to.
Right now, put down everything you do, sit back still, close your eyes, and for ten seconds try, through effort and force to not think of an elephant.
Do it now!
Did you feel how hard it was to block the elephant out, and how much energy it took to focus on something else?
Further, after you stop reading this text, you will again think of elephants as long as you are not occupied.
One might be clever and say, “I can just stay occupied and meditate all the time so I won’t be touched by the negative thoughts”.
This is what most humans are doing, they keep busy and pretend that they are doing good.
But let me ask you; Do you want to manage, or do you want to arrive?
If you manage, you will do maintenance for the rest of your life, bouncing between anxiety and fear.
If you conquer the mind, it will serve you, and not the other way around.
What must be understood, is that thoughts will always come. They will always move and flow and blossom. And as long as the human does not understand the fundamentals of how the human mind operates, it will keep one as a prisoner and slave.
Let me give you a secret to one of the core reasons humans suffer from their thoughts.
The very suffering from one’s own thoughts does not come through negative thoughts. The suffering comes because the mind makes you constantly search for positive thoughts. And it gives you baits of the idea of something better in the future. It keeps you running forever, it keeps the hunger.
The result is that humans are running away, hiding, and fighting negative thoughts because it has diluted you to believe that you need security and safety. It has made you the very slave and bodyguard for the manufactured “I”, which is the mind’s masterpiece.
